Ads on Google are a Google AdWords Management Company working out of Brisbane, but servicing customers Australia-wide. They came to the team at Knight Media in search of a simple and easy to navigate website for their business, which they wanted up ASAP. With only a very vague idea of what they wanted in mind, it was up to us to work out the overall theme and design of the new website. One point that Jay from Ads on Google did stress is that he wanted to mimic the colours of Google, specifically in relation to their AdWords areas. This was desired to present the feel that they were an AdWords related company, bringing up a subconscious connection with Google searches when people saw the same hues and font styles. This theme is most prominent in their logo, which is done in a similar font to Google’s original, and in some of the background colours which are almost identical to the off-white background colours shown behind some AdWords ads.
A simple layout and design was chosen as the Ads on Google team didn’t want to overwhelm potential customers with too much information or visual stimulation upon arrival at the site. This is especially important when taking into consideration that the Brisbane AdWords Managment Team’s target market are small business owners who are not always overtly tech-savvy. An blurred out image of Brisbane’s iconic Story Bridge was selected as the backdrop for the hompage of the site, alluding to Ads on Google’s home city beginnings. As is now the norm with many online service businesses, a contact form was placed on the front page of the site, so that perusers of the website could easily get in touch once having found the site.
Upon completion of the site a floating social media sidebar was inserted to allow visitors to easily connect with the other Ads on Google accounts. The AOG team were very happy with the final result of the site and have received a lot positive feedback for it since it was rolled out online.
